COMM 405 Conflict Management and Mediation

Students will learn the underlying theories of interpersonal and organizational conflict. The positive and negative aspects of conflict will be discussed. Means of conflict management, resolution, and mediation will be presented.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will understand the nature of conflict and mediation and its impact on interpersonal relationships and remember theories and concepts related to conflict and mediation.
  2. Students will apply a broad range of theoretical concepts, processes and methodologies in analyzing, managing and resolving conflicts relevant to their emphasis of study.
  3. Students will analyze and evaluate productive and destructive conflict through reflection and mediation scenarios.
  4. Students will assess a personal conflict and create possible resolutions or alternative scenarios for productive conflict resolution.
