MATH 205 Statistics

An introduction to descriptive and inferential statistics. Intended primarily for students of the social sciences, business, psychology, and education. Includes organizing and describing data, probability, random variables, sampling distributions, estimation, hypothesis testing, correlation, regression, and analysis of variance.

  1. Students will be able to read and understand quantitative data in various formats.
  2. Students will be able to communicate the meaning of quantitative data and the results of data analysis.
  3. Students will be able to explain the basic concepts of quantitative reasoning, such as variables, constants, and estimates.
  4. Students will be able to understand how inferences are drawn from quantitative analysis.
  5. Students will be able to recognize the limitations of quantitative methods.
  6. Students will be able to determine and use appropriate quantitative methods to solve problems.
  7. Students will be able to accurately interpret the results of data analyses.
