Outcomes

  1. Students will be able to describe the major characteristics and general formulations of the finite volume method.
  2. Students will understand the limitations of the numerical methods used in CFD.
  3. Students will be aware of common issues arising during implementation of CFD on finite-precision computers and acquire “best practice” approaches.
  4. Students will understand the difference between implicit and explicit computation.
  5. Students will understand the limitations of commercial software and how to extend it.
