CS 471 Game Development

Students will use an open source game engine and computer programming to experiment with games in various genres. Students will also develop game design skills needed for level editing and design, prototyping, and working in game engines.

  1. Identify and describe different game genres
  2. Interact with Unreal Engine game engine to create a simple game
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of the career of the game designer and the workings of the game industry by presenting game ideas to classmates
  4. Explain the Agile project management methodology and how it is used in game development
  5. Communicate effectively with clients and peers verbally and in writing
  6. Demonstrate independent learning through research, preparation, and presentation of a solution of a technology problem
