EDUC 102 Teaching Professional

This course combines elements of Exploring Education and Introduction to Education which are offered on the UJ campus. This course is developed for high school students taking the course as a dual credit course. History and philosophy of American education are surveyed along with the personal and professional requirements of teaching. Course requirements include field experience in an accredited public or private classroom.

  2. Understand interpersonal relations and group dynamics present in the field of education.
  3. Investigate effective teaching research-curriculum, motivation, management, differentiation, ethics, and other educational issues.
  4. Analyze various sociological dimensions influencing schooling, including race/ethnicity, class, and gender.
  5. Work cooperatively in small and large groups to apply your knowledge of educational issues and current events.
  6. Research and define various theories on philosophies of education and develop your own philosophy of education.
  7. Investigate curriculum and instructional resources.
  8. Know, understand, and discuss the organization and administration of school systems.
  9. Describe what is involved in becoming a teacher and teaching students and discuss field experiences from observations within a classroom setting.
