Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Study the fundamental content, features, and historic placement of a variety of works of world literature, from 1650 to present, in survey fashion. This means concentrating on the text, without excessive literary-critical apparatus. Instead, how does the text speak to you?--with a focus on literary terms and forming an aesthetic
  2. To learn to identify fundamental genres of world literature
  3. To become familiar with the work(s) and the identities of some of the influential writers from several civilizations over the past five centuries
  4. To understand how story is the link between all cultures, past & present.
