ENGR 361 Numerical Methods

The Numerical Methods course provides an introduction of current methods in numerical analysis. Topics will include polynomial approximation and interpolation, numerical differentiation and integration, differential equations, functional approximation, linear and nonlinear equations, and matrix methods for inverse and eigenvalue problems.

  1. Learn essentials of numerical methods to solve linear and nonlinear equations, differential equations, eigenvalue problems, etc.
  2. Learn how to write efficient programming algorithms and techniques using MATLAB package to solve numerical and data analysis exercises
  3. Understand and able to apply the fundamentals underlying theory and principles of numerical methods
  4. Learn numerical integration, differentiation, approximation and other techniques
  5. Learn how to apply numerical methods in solving engineering problems
  6. Apply matrix operations and linear algebra tools for data analysis
  7. All objectives apply directly to ABET Outcomes 1, 5, and 7
