GER 202 Intermediate German II

Discussion and composition skills are developed through the study of short prose works by German authors.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. The student will mater material from the readings in the course.
  2. The student will master a working German vocabulary of ca. 1500 words.
  3. The student will be able to apply rules of German pronunciation to new reading texts.
  4. The student will be able to explain the use of grammatical structures covered in the course readings. Grammar points will be discussed in class as they arise in readings and in written assignments.
  5. The student will be able to talk about the events of the stories read in class, will give reviews of movies watched in class, will make comparison and contrasts of elements, will write creative narratives in the past and will show increased comprehension and use of vocabulary in German.
  6. The student will be able to describe new insights into the geography, history and lifestyles in parts of Germany, Switzerland and Austria based on the readings.
