SOC 101 Introduction to Sociology
The course will introduce the student to the sociological process (including concepts, theories, and methods) the study of groups, stratification and conflict, social institutions, and social change.

- Develop a sociological imagination and apply it to various sociological issues.
- Describe the historical development of sociology as a discipline.
- Summarize each of the major research designs, including strengths and weaknesses of each.
- Summarize the three major theoretical perspectives in sociology: functionalist, conflict, and interactionist.
- Understand the process and significance of socialization.
- Understand the role of social institutions and how they intersect.
- Examine how inequalities are created and maintained in society.
