THEA 190 Introduction to Theatre

Introductory course in understanding and appreciation of the theatre arts designed to assist the beginning playgoer and to serve as a background for all formal theater courses. Open to students at any level.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Develop a basic knowledge in the assorted genres of theatrical art.
  2. Become familiar with the historical development of the art.
  3. Experience play production from the angle of the performer.
  4. Understand the contributions of influential playwrights, performers, and other artists.
  5. Gain firsthand experience and knowledge in the technical elements of theatre.
  6. Create an original script for possible production.
