University Student Handbook

Room Personalization

We encourage individual expression through room personalization. Roommates may decorate your room together; however, the University is also concerned for your safety and damage to University property. Accordingly, the following guidelines should be noted before you begin decorating your room.

  1. No false walls or floors are permitted.
  2. No bed risers and/or lofts outside of the university-sponsored lofts are permitted.
  3. Double sided carpet tape is prohibited.
  4. Only poster putty or 3M hooks are allowed to hang posters or pictures. Nails, tacks, etc. are not allowed.
  5. The outside of room doors and windows are visible to all members of the community, and as such, decorations should be kept to a minimum. Residents will be asked to remove any offensive or inappropriate materials.
  6. Decals, bumper stickers and contact paper may not be affixed to University property. Students will be assessed for any and all damages to University property (allowing for normal wear and tear).
  7. No painting of walls is permitted.
