BIOL 208 Human Anatomy and Physiology I (Lec/Lab)

A study of the structure and function of the human body, including gross and micro-anatomy. Physiological principles at the organ system and organ levels are emphasized. Focus on integumentary, skeletal, muscular nervous, and endocrine systems. (In the BIOL 208 - BIOL 209 sequence, only BIOL 208 will count for major or minor credit.)

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Utilize the language of anatomy to describe anatomical locations, levels of organization and body systems
  2. Use anatomical terms to describe the basic anatomy (structure) and physiology (function) of the body systems covered in this course (integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, and endocrine)
  3. Describe homeostasis and some of the homeostatic imbalances that can occur in the body systems covered in this course
  4. Use anatomical language to describe the relative position of structures in the body
  5. Identify basic tissue types on microscope slides of human structures and organs
  6. Use anatomical terms to describe the basic anatomy (structure) and physiology (function) of the body systems covered in this course
  7. Identify basic anatomical structures associated with the body systems covered in this course
