The basic skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing are developed in class. Laboratory work required.

Student Learning Oucomes

1. The student will master material through Erste Kontakte, Unit 8 of the Deutsch Plus Text
2. The student will master a working German vocabulary of ca. 300 words.
3. The student will be able to apply rules of German pronunciation to new reading texts.
4. The student will be able to explain the use of grammatical structures covered in the first five chapters of the beginning German text.
5. The student will be able to make introductions; ask questions about interests, preferences and hobbies; speak with a salesclerk and waiter; talk about clothing, personal effects and home furnishings; describe objects and people; talk about food and dining and tell about the university system in Germany.
6. The student will be able to describe new insights into the geography, history and lifestyles in parts of Germany and other German-Speaking countries.
