FREN 202 Intermediate French II

Discussion and composition skills are developed through the discussion of topics of daily interest in French-speaking countries.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. The student will master material from lessons 32-52 of the French in Action text.
  2. The student will practice speaking in French and will show increased facility in using target vocabulary dealing with themes developed during the course.
  3. The student will improve his/her writing accuracy through writing and revising compositions.
  4. The student will learn to use written and spoken French to express personal opinions on topics that rise in class and in the compositions.
  5. The student will review and master grammatical structures as presented in French in Action.
  6. The student will develop reading attack strategies and increase the speek of his/her French reading though vocabulary development and exposure to a variety of texts.
  7. The student will gain increased comfort and accuracy in understanding spoken French through the use of authentic materials.
  8. The student will master a working French vocabulary of ca. 1600 words.
  9. The student will apply rules of French pronunciation to new reading texts.
  10. The student will be able to describe new insights into the geography, history and lifestyles in parts of the French-speaking world.
