MATH 112 Trigonometry

A study of right-triangle and circular trigonometry, including trigonometric functions, identities, and laws, analytic trigonometry, and applications.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Use functional notation and operations. Identify the domain and range of various functions and sketch their graphs.
  2. Perform arithmetic with complex numbers using trigonometric form of complex numbers.
  3. Sketch graphs in polar coordinates.
  4. Connect concepts of the trigonometry with other scientific disciplines.
  5. Value mathematics and develop an ability to communicate mathematics, both in writing and orally.
  6. Develop mathematical reasoning, and an ability to solve problems.
  7. Solve linear and quadratic equations/inequalities.
  8. Know without the aid of a calculator the six trigonometric function values of nice angles.
  9. Solve right triangle applications using trigonometric functions.
  10. Sketch graphs of trigonometric and inverse-trigonometric functions.
  11. Know basic trigonometric identities.
  12. Use basic trigonometric identities to simplify trigonometric expressions and solve equations.
  13. Solve oblique triangles using the Laws of Sines and Cosines.
  14. Solve applied problems using vectors.
