Infinite sequences and series, power series, convergence, Taylor and Maclaurin Series, Linear algebra, orthogonality and linear independence, matrices, determinants, vector spaces, eigenvalues and eigenvectors.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. To understand the fundamental concepts of linear algebra and be able to apply the methods of linear algebra to solve real world problems.
  2. Be able to solve systems of linear equations and describe the solutions.
  3. Demonstrate comprehension of operations on matrices.
  4. Demonstrate comprehension of vector spaces. Define vector space, subspace, linear independence, spanning set and basis.
  5. Demonstrate comprehension of eigenvalues and eigenvectors.
  6. Demonstrate comprehension of inner product spaces. Discuss and compute orthogonal bases and orthonormal bases using the Gram-Schmidt Process.
  7. Compute and manipulate series.
  8. Understand the relationship between certain series and basis functions.
