Student Learning Outcomes

  1. To solve first and second order homogenous and non-homogenous differential equations using various techniques – separation of variable, integrating factor, characteristic equation, variation of parameters, undetermined coefficients, Laplace transform, and power series.
  2. To express the solutions numerically and analytically.
  3. To model physical systems using differential equations.
  4. Solve systems of differential equations.
  5. To connect concepts of the calculus with other scientific disciplines.
  6. To value mathematics and develop an ability to communicate mathematics, both in writing and orally.
