REL 211 Old Testament

A study of the origins and transmission of the Old Testament writings in their historical, religious, and cultural contexts. The messages of these books for their original readers will be examined for their continuing significance for today.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Students should become familiar with the basic ideas, persons, books, genres, stories, and theology of the Old Testament.
  2. Students should develop critical thinking skills, historical awareness, and perspective of scope required to engage and think through the Old Testament and its relationship to Christianity, modern culture, and life.
