PT 741 Clinical Assessment I

This course presents overall development of skills in basic physical therapy assessment techniques, including vital sign assessment, goniometry, muscle testing, range of motion, physical and sensory examination, and special tests. This course introduces concepts of differential diagnosis.

  2. Perform a subjective examination and interpret the information obtained to design an appropriate objective examination.
  3. Describe the tests and measures used in the objective examination.
  4. Perform an objective examination and interpret the findings as they relate to the hypotheses.
  5. Describe the components of a medical screen.
  6. Perform a medical screen and interpret findings that may require a referral to another health care provider.
  7. Integrate basic anatomical knowledge, kinesiology, and biomechanics into tests and measures.
