BUSN 309 Agricultural Marketing and Risk Management

This course will explore the integration of ag marketing and risk management. The focus will start with a focus on production agriculture; develop into the global aspects of commodity trade, government policy and transportation; and culminate in a comprehensive view of risk and its relationship to marketing.

  1. The students will have a functional understanding of agricultural marketing for production agriculture and agribusinesses.
  2. The students will have a functional understanding of risk management tools available in agriculture.
  3. The students will understand global influences on trade and transportation and their impact on markets.
  4. The students will be able to apply functional tools to analyze business risk related to farms and agribusinesses.
  5. The students will develop a marketing plan that considers characteristics unique to agriculture.
