BUSN 310 Retirement and Benefits Planning
This course examines and analyzes various benefit programs and retirement planning vehicles. Topics include customer needs analysis; individual plan characteristics; and the distribution, reporting, and taxation requirements specific to each plan type. The course focuses on strategies for integrating retirement planning and benefits into a sound overall personal financial plan.

- Describe the characteristics of qualified and tax-advantaged retirement plans and the requirements to maintain tax qualification
- Explain the different types of retirement plans available and determine which plans are most appropriate for individuals and businesses
- Explain primary components of Social Security and Medicare and incorporate these features into a financial plan
- Calculate client goal-based retirement needs and understand the integration of social security, pension plans, individual savings and taxation within these plans
- Evaluate a client's retirement needs, develop strategies based on these needs, and determine client-appropriate recmmenations
