EDUC 219 Instructional Media and Technology
A course designed to familiarize education majors with education technology standards, theories, and applications of various media and technologies for use in education. Practical exercises and reflective assignments will be used. Topics include design, software, hardware, visual and audio media, internet, and legal, ethical and social issues with technology use. Students will research learning theories in relation to technology and present their findings.

- Examine the applications and implications of Large Language Models (LLMs) in educational settings, focusing on their potential for enhancing teaching and learning, while addressing the challenges and ethical considerations associated with their use.
- Explore a variety of technologies and how they can be implemented in learning
- Identify a variety of Internet resources that will aid you in your future teaching endeavors.
- Discuss the legal and ethical issues involved with technology use in the classroom including Copyright/Fair Use.
- Identify the key components of ISTE’s Educational Technology Standards for Teachers and ISTE’s Educational Technology Standards for Students in addition to ND computer science and cyber security standards
- Understand connection between educational technologies and learning theories through research.
- Explore and implement programming concepts in the classroom to foster computational thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills among students, while aligning with curriculum standards and enhancing interdisciplinary learning
- Apply technology-based communication tools to design and deliver engaging presentations, facilitate online discussions, and collaborate on projects with peers and mentors
