GER 320 German Culture and Civilization

Students will be exposed to a general history of the German-speaking countries of Europe and will examine modern trends and institutions. Conducted in German.

  1. The student will learn vocabulary associated with historical developments in the German states and modern German culture.
  2. The student will improve reading skills through mastering the assignments in the book.
  3. The student will improve listening skills through lectures, reports, taped materials, and discussions in class.
  4. The student will improve verbal skills through participation in discussion in German.
  5. The student will be able to identify major events in German history.
  6. The student will better understand current issues in the news concerning the German-speaking countries.
