MUS 319 Instructional Media and Technology for Music
This course is designed for music education majors to familiarize them with technologies used in recording, performing, notating, and creating music. Topics include using music notation software, digital audio software, sound amplification, recording, sound editing, MIDI, as well as a basic understanding of musical synthesis and music sampling.

Outcomes
- Students will learn how to use microphones, mixing boards, monitors, and other sound equipment to both record and/or amplify a performance.
- Students will demonstrate a basic understanding of how to use digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as GarageBand, Logic Pro, Cubase, or Fruity Loops.
- Students will learn to edit recordings efficiently using digital audio software such as Audacity or Pro Tools.
- Students will demonstrate a basic understanding of musical synthesis and music sampling.
- Students will learn to enhance recordings with a basic understanding of mixing and the use of digital audio plugins such as reverb, graphic EQ, and compressors.
- Students will learn to efficiently use music notation software such as Finale or MuseScore.
