MUS 339 Music History II: Baroque and Classical
This is the second semester of a three-semester sequence of courses. The purpose of the course is to acquaint the student with the major trends in Western music from the Baroque and Classical eras. The student will study the style, forms, and major composers of the given historical periods.

- Know who the important composers were in these periods.
- Know the important pieces of these periods.
- Discover political and environmental influences on music of the time and be able to discuss, listen, and defend different positions.
- Learn what to listen to in Baroque and Classical music.
- Understand the importance of this time period as it pertains to general and music history.
- Continue learning basic methods or research and writing, focusing on citation and bibliography.
