POLS 352 American Economic Policy

An examination of the history, politics, and processes of the making of U.S. monetary, regulatory, and fiscal policy. Required for Political Science majors. A research paper is optional.

Outcomes

  1. Students will gain an understanding of the elements of U.S. economic policy-making in historical and political context.
  2. Students will gain an understanding of how the interaction of politics and economics influences the debates on economic policies in the policy-making process of the U.S. government.
  3. Students will gain an understanding of how the political economy of policy-making affects citizens and the overall political and economic environment in the U.S.
  4. Students will gain an appreciation of the importance of economics issues in American politics.
  5. If the research paper option is chosen, students will develop research, writing, and critical thinking skills through an in-depth exploration of an issue of contemporary U.S. economic concern.
