An examination of the history, politics, and processes of the making of U.S. monetary, regulatory, and fiscal policy. Required for Political Science majors. A research paper is optional.

- Students will gain an understanding of the elements of U.S. economic policy-making in historical and political context.
- Students will gain an understanding of how the interaction of politics and economics influences the debates on economic policies in the policy-making process of the U.S. government.
- Students will gain an understanding of how the political economy of policy-making affects citizens and the overall political and economic environment in the U.S.
- Students will gain an appreciation of the importance of economics issues in American politics.
- If the research paper option is chosen, students will develop research, writing, and critical thinking skills through an in-depth exploration of an issue of contemporary U.S. economic concern.
