POLS 375 Modern Political Thought
A seminar on the modern tradition of political theory and practice through an exploration of the significant treatises of the era, with an emphasis on their influence on the American experiment. Required for Political Science majors.

- Students will gain an understanding of the significant questions raised and addressed by the early modern political philosophers.
- Students will gain an understanding of how modern and late-modern political philosophers addressed and elaborated upon the political concerns of the early modern thinkers.
- Students will gain an understanding of how the ideas of various philosophers influenced the American experiment.
- Students will gain an appreciation of the utility of political theory in helping to understand contemporary politics.
