PATH 592 Disease Mechanisms II

The second course in a two-semester sequence that covers the fundamental mechanisms of disease, providing an in-depth understanding of the pathophysiological basis of human disease including cellular and molecular pathology, mechanisms of inflammation, immunopathology, and major systemic disorders.

  1. 1. Describe the cellular and molecular mechanisms that underlie disease processes.
  2. 2. Analyze the pathologic pathways of inflammation and tissue repair.
  3. 3. Investigate and analyze immune deficiency disorders, including hypersensitivity, autoimmunity, and immunodeficiency.
  4. 4. Recall the mechanisms of neoplasia, environmental and genetic contributions to disease, and the characteristics normal vs pathology of organ systems.
