PSYC 319 Cognition

This course presents the empirically based principles of human cognitive behavior. Some topics include perception, attention, memory, visual imagery, categorization, problem solving, decision making, creativity, and expertise.

  1. Recognize and explain major terms and concepts in cognitive psychology.
  2. Explain how different methods of cognitive research can be used as tool to understand mental processes.
  3. Describe the working of basic cognitive functions from an information processing perspective.
  4. Discuss the classic experimental findings relating to various cognitive processes such as attention, perception, memory, imagery, language, thinking, and problem solving.
