KNS 415 Sociological and Psychological Aspects of Sports
This course addresses the psychological and social dimensions of coaching. Content includes personality factors of the athlete, motivation, conducting effective practices cultural and minority problems, and learning and training factors.

Student Learning Outcomes
- During this course we will explore a broad spectrum of topics that exist in the realm of sport within society and how those topics affect the institution of sport and the individuals within. From the psychological aspect, we will investigate the psychological factors that influence performance. Some of those factors include learning, motivation, arousal, mental training, variable personalities, and goal setting. Ultimately, each student should exit this class with an understanding of the major issues athletes and coaches deal with today. Each student should also be able to develop a basic plan in dealing with individual athletes and how to improve each athlete's performance through psychological understanding and the mental game.
