KNS 411 Personal Training

The personal training course will cover the following topics: functional anatomy, exercise physiology and prescription, screening and evaluation, nutrition and weight management as well as fitness training instruction. Students will gain knowledge and skills necessary to become a personal trainer. Students will have the opportunity to sit for a national certification test at the end of this course (additional fee required to sit for certification exam).

  2. Design safe and effective exercise programs based on client needs and goals.
  3. Identify basic contraindications to exercise.
  4. Describe the role and responsibilities of a certified personal trainer.
  5. Explain basic principles of exercise physiology.
  6. Explain the relationship between nutrition and physical wellness and performance.
  7. Evaluate clients for safe participation in an exercise program.
  8. Demonstrate proper use of fitness assessment equipment.
  9. Determine appropriate fitness assessment practices for a varied population.
  10. Demonstrate proper exercise technique and form.
